I’m just popping in to say Thank You to everyone who has joined me here. I have lots of fun stuff coming up in this space, I’m still learning all of the possibilities. I just announced my 2023 Teaching Schedule (dates still getting added). I am excited for all the new opportunities. I’d appreciate you all checking it out and seeing if there is something there for you.
These past few weeks have been a whirlwind. Last week-end my show “Winter Blooms” part of my ongoing work “Dreaming in Green: Conversations between Art and Nature” at The Bloomery in Northampton MA went up. Thanks for everyone who came out to the opening it was so fun to see you all and I’m thrilled by the feedback. Thank You! I was so happy that Blanche Derby (first photo)came out. Blanche was one of the first plant people I met when I was beginning my journey and her work on wild edibles has always been an inspiration. One of these days, soon, I will interview her in this space as she is someone I want you all to meet! In the meantime please check out her You Tube channel.
Presently, I am busy wrapping up my research project at Zea Mays (Making Plant Inks for Silk Screening) and getting ready to put up a show there at the “Loo Gallery” yep in their bathroom- captured audience! It’s going to be all about being in relationship with plants while working with them and all the ways they gift us (medicine, food, art etc). The other day I had the idea to make a linocut of a giant Nettle (Urtica dioica) for the show- and my friend Devon helped me get it going. I am chipping away at it everyday and hope to get a proof of it on Thursday. Not sure what I was thinking.
I’ve also been participating in #artfullfebruary on instagram and now will be joining
to keep the practice and inspiration flowing. I look forward to sharing all the new book forms I’ve been busy learning with you all.Tomorrow is the last day of the 2022 Apprentice program wow! and I am welcoming applications for 2023. I have 5 spaces left. Check out some of the amazing work which has been presented lately as part of their final projects! I am forever blown away by the way plants inspire the best in us.
